Mrs. Silver Dies At Home
Daughter Of Pioneer Apostle Closes Long Career
Mrs. Orthenia Pratt Silver, 72, of 224 West Fourth North Street, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Cleo Cannon of Bountiful yesterday at 11:45 p.m. following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Silver was a daughter of the late Orson Pratt, member of the Council of the Twelve Apostles and Adelia Ann Bishop Pratt
Born at Tooele, Nov. 31, 1862 Mrs. Silver was a resident of Salt Lake City most of her life. She had been an active Church worker in the Cannon Ward and the Twenty-second ward but in late years was forced to retire from active duty because of failing health.
She was married to John A. Silver in Salt Lake City, Nov. 25, 1880. Mr. Silver was one of the founders of the Silver Brothers’ Iron Works, early Salt Lake establishment. Her husband died about 20 years ago.
Mrs. Silver was the mother of eight children, five of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Cannon, of Bountiful; Mrs. Kendall Brown and Leland P. Silver, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Clarence Tuttle, Springville; and Mrs. Eldred Kjar, of Manti. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Ruby P. Beesley, Mrs. Pearl P. Morgan, Mrs. Neva P. Shivrick, Milson B., Valton and Ortherus P. Pratt, Mrs. Joseph U. Eldredge, and Mrs. Joseph Kimball, all of Salt Lake City; Ray R. Pratt, of San Francisco; Julius P. Pratt, of Los Angeles; Margaret P. Armstrong, Miami, Fla.; and Rella P. Ferrington, of Portland, Ore.; also 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be in the Twenty-second Ward chapel under the direction of Bishop George Jorgensen, the time and day to be announced later.

Bountiful—Funeral services for Mrs. Orthenia Pratt Silver, 72, who died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Quayle Cannon (Bountiful), will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., in the Twenty-second ward with Bishop George Jorgensen officiating. Friends may call at the home of Mrs. Kendall Brown, 235 West Fourth North street, from Sunday noon until 1:30 p.m.
Mrs. Silver was born in Tooele, the daughter of Orson and Adelia Ann Bishop Pratt. When a young girl she moved to Salt Lake City with her parents, where she had since resided.
On Nov. 25, 1880, she was married to John A. Silver.
Mrs. Silver is survived by five children: Mrs. Quayle Cannon, Bountiful; Mrs. Kendall V. Brown, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Clarence Tuttle, Springville; Mrs. Eldred Kjar, Manti, and Leland P. Silver, Salt Lake City. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Irintha P. Douglas, Ogden; Dora P. Snow, Ruby P. Beesley, Pearl P, Morgan, Milson Pratt, Valton Pratt, Ortherus Pratt, Mrs. Joseph U. Eldredge and Mrs. Joseph Kimball, all of Salt Lake City; Ray R. Pratt of San Francisco; Julius P.
