“…There is Parley Pratt, jun., who has just spoken. I remember the day of his birth very well, for his mother died the day he was born, and I attended her funeral. Now he has grown to be a man, and I rejoice to hear him bear testimony of the work of God in connection with the other young brethren; it does my soul good to see them coming on to the stage of action….”

Two meetings were held in the Tabernacle. Elder John Taylor and Pres. Brigham Young preached in the forenoon and in the afternoon Elders Jacob G. Bigler, John D. Chase, Parley P. Pratt, and Pres. Brigham Young addressed the meeting….At a meeting held in the Historian’s Office at 4 p.m., the following missionaries were set apart: Jacob G. Bigler, John D. Chase, Parley P. Pratt, Jun., John Talbot, Wm. Fotheringham, Edward Pugh, Paul Augustus Schetttler, John Westley Clark, and George Wilson Grant.
