Funeral Services

The funeral services over the remains of the late Ella Olivia Driggs, daughter of Benjamin W. and his wife Olivia Pratt Driggs, were held yesterday at 10 a.m., in the meeting house at Pleasant Grove, when one of the largest congregations ever seen in that place, assembled to pay their respect to the memory of the departed.  The town turned out en masse, stores were closed, business generally suspended, and many public buildings were draped in mourning.  Such was the profound and universal esteem in which the deceased was held.  The meeting was addressed by Bishop George Halliday, of Santaquin, Elder Nephi Pratt, of this city, Mrs. Zina D.H. Young and Bishop John Brown, of Pleasant Grove; al of them speaking in a very interesting and instructive manner, eulogizing the many excellent qualities of the deceased, and tending to comfort the afflicted family, called upon to mourn the loss of a loving daughter, sister and friend.  Y.L.M.I.A., who followed the hearse, on foot, and between 40 and 50 vehicles, accompanied the remains to their last resting place.
