Mrs. Bertha W. Pratt Dies in Chihuahua, Mexico
Mrs. Bertha Wilcken Pratt, 84, former Utah school teacher, died Wednesday at the home a son, Harold W. Pratt, former president of the Mexican Mission in Chihuahua City, Mexico, after a lingering illness.
A native of Salt Lake City, born May 17, 1863, a daughter of Charles Henry and Eliza Wilcken. Educated in Salt Lake schools she was graduated from the University of Utah nearly 60 years ago with one of the graduate classes.
She taught in Brigham Young Academy at Logan, at the old LDS college and in Davis County schools. She was married to Helaman Pratt in 1897 and moved to Mexico where she was active in the school system there. Returning to Utah in 1912, she divided her time between here and Mexico working with the educational systems. She was 71 years of age before she retired from teaching.
Survivors include three sons, Harold; Emerson, W. Pratt, Phoenix, Ariz. And Joseph W. Pratt, Pecos, Tex., and 20 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at Colonia Dublan, where burial will take place.”

A former Utah school teacher, Mrs. Bertha Wilcken Pratt, 84, died Wednesday at Chihuahua City, Mexico, at the home of a son, Harold W. Pratt, it was learned in Salt Lake City Friday. Death was attributed to causes incidental to age.
Mrs. Pratt, a daughter of Charles Henry and Eliza Wilcken, was born in Salt Lake City May 17, 1863. She attended the University of Utah nearly 60 years ago and was a member of one of the first graduating classes.
Son Ex-Mission Head
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her son, Harold, is a former president of the LDS Mexican mission.
She taught at Brigham Young academy, at the old LDS college, and in Davis county schools. She was married to Helaman Pratt in 1897, and soon after moved to Mexico where she was active in education. Mrs. Pratt retired from educational work when she as 71 years of age.
Divided Time
Returning to Utah in 1912, she had divided her time between here and Mexico since. She was last in Salt Lake City in January.
Mrs. Pratt is survived by three sons, Harold; Emerson W. Pratt, Phoenix, and Joseph W. Pratt, Pecos, Tex., and 20 grandchildren.
