St. Louis, April 4th/53
Dear Bro. Young

In consequence of sickness, it has been judged wisdom for by myself and others of the Elders for brother Elijah Thomas to have the privilege of returning home; the nature of his complaints you can assertain by enquiring of him.  Bro. Thomas was perfectly willing to do anything required of him.  When you learn the circumstances, if you think that we have erred in giving him this privilege I hope you will forgive us for so doing.

Your in the Covenant,
Orson Pratt
