The two branches of the Utah Legislature met in joint session in the morning and passed an act to incorporate the Deseret Iron Company. In the afternoon the House voted that Orson Hyde should be chancellor of the University instead of Orson Spencer. Parley P. Pratt regent pro tem instead of Orson Pratt, Franklin D. Richards regent instead of Daniel Spencer, Lorenzo Snow regent instead of Orson Hyde, and Erastus Snow regent instead of John M. Bernhisel. Jonathan Browning should be notary public for Weber Co. The joint session then dissolved and the House conquered in the act granting Green River ferry to Daniel H. Wells. The House passed an act legislating oaths, affidavits, etc., before a notary public. Resolved to petition Congress for the privilege of electing territorial officers, and an act was passed concerning certain animals running at large.
