Mrs. Beesley’s Funeral Rites Set For Monday

Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Ruby Pratt Beesley, 74, of 533 Eleventh Ave., widow of Alvin A. Beesley, prominent Salt Lake City businessman, will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Ensign Ward chapel, Ninth Ave. and D St., by Bishop D.E. Judd.

Mrs. Beesley died Thursday at 2 p.m. in a local hospital after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1874, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Elder Orson Pratt, formerly of the Council of the Twelve, and Marion Ross Pratt.

She was married to Mr. Beesley May 24, 1894, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was director and executive board member of the Hotel Utah, manager of Beesley Music Company and county commissioner.

Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mrs. Beesley participated in Relief Society work in the Twenty-second and Ensign wards. She was a past president of the Twenty-second Ward camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Survivors include seven sons and daughters, Jerrold P. Beesley, chairman of the State Finance Commission; Orson B. Beesley and Mrs. Virgil B. Jennings, Salt Lake City; A. Douglas Beesley, New York City; Horace P. Beesley, Bountiful; Irving P. Beesley, Spokane, Wash., and Sterling E. Beesley, Denver; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl P. Morgan and Mrs. Neva Shiverick, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Margaret Armstrong, Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Rella Farrington, Portland, Ore., and 28 grandchildren.

Daughter of Orson Pratt, 74, Succumbs in S.L. Hospital

Mrs. Ruby Pratt Beesley, 74, 533 11th ave., widow of Alvin A. Beesley, died in a Salt Lake hospital Thursday at 2 p.m. after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Beesley, daughter of Orson Pratt, apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Marion Ross Pratt, was born in Salt Lake City Feb. 20, 1874.

She was married to Mr. Beesley, former director and executive board member of the Hotel Utah, president and manager of the Beesley Music Co. and county commissioner, May 24, 1894, in the Salt Lake LDS temple.

An active member of Relief societies in Twenty-second and Ensign wards, she was a past president of the Twenty-second ward camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Final Tribute Paid to S.L. Woman

Responsibilities of raising a splendid family did not prevent Mrs. Ruby Pratt Beesley from serving faithfully as a worker in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, speakers said Monday at funeral services conducted for her in Ensign LDS ward chapel.

Services for Mrs. Beesley, widow of Alvin A. Beesley, former president of Beesley Music Co., were conducted by D.E. Judd, ward bishop. Speakers included David O. McKay, second counselor in the LDS church first presidency, and Waldo M. Andersen, member of Ensign LDS stake presidency.

Irving P. Beesley dedicated the grave in Salt Lake City cemetery.
