…Found seventeen men busily plying their hammers and chisels in the stone cutters shop, forming the coping for the north wall of the Temple block; also blocks in various shapes for different public buildings now in progress, a grave stone for Rodney Badger, another for the child [Marian Agnes Ross Pratt] of Elder O. Pratt, and one for Brother Patterson who was killed at the stone quarry; all of which are the workmanship of Bro. Wm. Ward, who sculptured our block for the Washington Monument….
