The Visit to Cache
President John Taylor and party, on the return homeward from Cache County, spent most of yesterday in Ogden and proceeded to Salt Lake City with the regular evening train. We understand the Conference held in Logan was most profitable and enjoyable. After the holding of these general meetings, the party divided into two sections, and visited and held meetings in a number of the settlements. President John Taylor, accompanied by Presidents Geo. Q. Cannon, Joseph F. Smith and W. Woodruff, Patriach John Smith, President W.B. Preston, and elders Geo. Reynolds, Geo. F. Gibbs, and R.J. Taylor, proceeded northward; and held meetings as follows: Hyde Park, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 1; Smithfield, 10 a.m. on Monday; Richmond, 7 p.m. on Monday; Franklin, 11 a.m. on Tuesday and on the return southward, Mendon at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The other section of the party was composed of Elders Lorenzo Snow, Franklin D. Richards, Brigham Young, and C.O. Curd, whovisited and held meetings in the settlements in the south end of the Valley, joining President Taylor and the other brethren at Mendon.
Elders Snow, Young and Preston propose also visited the settlements on the west side of Cache Valley, going as far North as the “Mormon” villages in Gentile Valley.
Besides the brethren named, the following ladies were with the party: Sisters Martha and Ida Tayor, Elizabeth Cannon, Sarah Smith, M.A. Reynolds and Juliette Pratt. Sister Richards was with the party until Monday, on which day she returned home.
