Funeral of Mrs. Pratt
Widow of First Pioneer

Funeral services for Mrs. Adelia Ann Bishop Pratt, widow of the late Orson Pratt, who died yesterday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. John S. Edwards, in Sugar House ward, will be held at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Twenty-second ward chapel.

Mrs. Pratt came to Utah in 1851, seven years after having been married to Elder Pratt. She joined the “Mormon” colony at Nauvoo in 1842, and when the people were expelled from that place, Elder Pratt removed with his family tot Harris Grove, where Mrs. Pratt and the children remained while her husband came on to Utah with the Pioneers. Although he had established a home here and had prepared to return for his family, he was sent on a mission to England, and during his three years stay there, Mrs. Pratt and the children continued their residence at Harris Grove until 1851, when elder Pratt returned and accompanied the family west. With the exception of a few years in Tooele county, the family has resided in this city since that time.

Mrs. Pratt is survived by five of her six children. They are Lorum Pratt of Fredonia, Coconina county, Ariz.; Lorus Pratt, Mrs. John S. Edwards, Mrs. Ashton Nebeker and Mrs. John A. Silver, all of Salt Lake. The other child was Mrs. Zina Pratt Bishop, wife of Justice F.M. Bishop. Included in her posterity are 48 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
